Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid State Interpreter License
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required
• Spanish language skills strongly preferred; trilingual ability (ASL, Spanish, MSL) is a significant asset
• Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in schools or with children is highly desirable
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

Responsibilities:

• Provide real-time interpretation between the student, educators, and peers in a middle school classroom
• Facilitate communication during instructional periods, extracurricular activities, and school events as needed
• Adapt interpretation style to support academic learning and foster inclusion in various educational settings
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all professional ethical standards

Assignment Details:

• Contract role beginning ASAP and continuing through the end of the school year (May 21 or May 27)
• 37.5 hours per week, with a schedule that aligns to full school days
• One-to-one support for a student, ensuring consistency and continuity in communication access
• Onsite presence required; bilingual (ASL/Spanish) or trilingual capability is preferred for optimal support
